Observed in scrub habitat on a tree branch. Mweiga, Nyeri County, Kenya, Dec 2015.

This lichen is attached to a tree branch where many other types of lichen were crowding for available space. This one could just be a more mature, reproducing version of:

Each of these saucer-shaped structures hold thousands of asci, the spore producing structures. Singular apothecium and plural, apothecia are one type of Ascocarp, the reproductive part of the lichen.
