African Giant Land Snail

Achatinidae snails feed principally on plant matter, living or dead. When abundant their prolific feeding can be destructive to agricultural and horticultural production. Some species can be used as food and others are popular as terrarium pets. In this way some species have been translocated to other tropical areas and have become serious pests.
