Wasp Moth

Syntomoides (?)

an Arctiidae, possibly Syntomini Wasp Moth, from Kenya, Africa. Photo © by Michael Plagens

Near Kimunye, Kirinyaga County, Kenya, Africa. 3 June 2017.

This moth shows a bold pattern of black and transparent wings and the body is marked with orange bands. The appearance suggests a wasp capable of delivering a sting or else an insect that is toxic or otherwise chemically defended against insectivorous birds.
