Foliage Ground Beetle

I found this ground beetle on foliage where it was attempting escape from raiding driver ants (Dorylus) that were relentlessly moving up into the plant. Ground beetles are themselves predaceous, feeding especially on small insects and their eggs, but this solitary beetle had little defense against an army.
