Observed in a subsistence farm near Kitale, Kenya, Africa. Oct. 2016.

The bold pattern of this clear-winged moth suggests an animal capable of delivering a substantial sting. An alternate common name is Wasp Moth. In face it is mostly defenseless and would be a happy meal for an insectivorous birds. The caterpillar stage of sesiids bore into the stems of various plants - one common species tunnels into stems of squash and gourds.
