Red-veined Drop-wing

This dragonfly was observed at City Park, Nairobi, Kenya, October 2010. Identification was provided by Onesmus Ndungo who is a silver-level Nature Guide.

Red-veined Drop-wing is a common and widespread dragonfly on the African continent and is also found in Asia Minor. It's larva lives in a wide variety of freshwater habitats. The specimen at left was using a small man-made lily pond.
