These small birds are infrequently seen because their habitat, high-altitude elfin forest edge and grassland, is found only in the highest mountain areas. The downy feathers under their plumage/flight feathers is bulkier giving the birds a stocky look. Their diet consists mostly of small, soft-bodied insects caught in-flight or gleaned from foliage.
