These tiny birds feed on grass/millet seeds and may be found in pastures or even occasionally crop fields. Previously Kandt's Waxbill was treated as a subspecies of the Black-Headed Waxbill. Kandt's is found in the mountainous areas of the Rift Valley from Rwanda to Kenya.
