Bohor Reedbuck

Reedbuck, Redunca redunca, with abundant ectoparasites photo © by Michael Plagens

Photographed at Nairobi National Park, Kenya. Dec. 2014.

It wasn't until I was reviewed this photo in the comfort of my screened and bug-free home that I noticed the very heavy load of biting insects. Reedbuck prefer marshy areas where they consume tender new growth of sedges and grasses. Males have small horns about 30 cm in length and females lack horns. Coat is reddish brown.
