Observed near Eldoret, Kenya. January 2012.

FLOWERS: Spherical heads of small white to cream flowers.

TREE: Medium to large flat-topped tree. The bark is dark reddish brown. On younger trees the bark is peeling.

LEAVES: Leaves are twice compound with the ultimate segments quite small and numbering up to 20 to 40 pairs. The leaves appear feathery.

RANGE: This tree is found at mid to high elevations up to 1800m.

FRUIT: The flattened bean pods are brown when mature and about 9 cm long about 3 cm wide.

ARMED. The paired spines are straight and variable in length.
