LEAVES: The opposite leaves are elliptical with conspicuous veins and pubescence. The margins are smooth, entire.

HERBACEOUS: Herbaceous growth reaching 1 to 2 meters tall with a number of clustered stems. two-lipped flowers of Justicia from Kenya, photo © Michael Plagens

FLOWERS: Small, white with lavender markings and bilaterally symmetrical.

RANGE: One of several species of Justicia found in highland areas of Kenya and Rift Valley.

FRUIT: Two-valved, capsules.

UNARMED However, the bracts subtending the flowers are stiff and pointed.
