  • Disc Flowers: The yellow disc flowers are many and rather small in a flat head.
  • Ray Flowers: About ten yellow rays - these are the fertile florets that give rise to the seeds.
  • Phyllaries: One series of short green bracts.

  • Leaves: The leaves are long triangular with several prominent teeth.
  • Herbaceous: Perennials with mostly herbaceous stems up to a meter tall.
