- Ray Flowers: No ray flowers.

Disc Flowers: Long slender tubes are colored bright yellow.
- Phyllaries: The tough, convex phyllaries tightly hold the seeds and are backed with sharp, branching spines. They are also clothed in cottony pubescence.
- Pappus: some bristles at top of the seeds.
- Leaves: The simple leaves are dotted with resin glands. Lower leaves may have deep lobes.
