Crossandra

Growing in partial shade of tree in savanna, Machakos, Kenya. 30 May 2017.

The unique color of these flowers suggests slices of smoked salmon (Not a food likely to be encountered in Kenya!). The stems grow prostrate or creeping below the soil. The new flowers tend to appear after the start of a rainy season.
