TREE: Small tree with tangles of low branches.

FLOWERS: The flowers have five long petals and five sepals which are colored yellowish also on the upper surface. Stamen filaments fused into fleshy column.

LEAVES: The leaves are ovate to elliptical and have shallow serrations along the margins.

RANGE: Many Grewia species have been identified in Kenya.

FRUIT:Most fruits consist of just one spherical fleshy lobe.

UNARMED: No thorns.
