Observed near Limuru Pond, Nairobi, Kenya. January 2014.

The stems and leaves of pennyworts are buoyant as are the small seeds. Thus this plant has achieved a wide distribution following water courses and the movements of manmade watercraft. Its origin is the Americas and parts of tropical Africa. The small flowers are often concealed below the canopy of parasol-shaped leaves.

Apiaceae -- Carrot Family
