FLOWERS: The lavender-colored, tubular flowers have a large, expanded lower lip with distinct nectar-guide lines. Borne in small groups in the leaf axils at the terminus.

FRUIT: Upright capsules.

HERB: A tall, mostly herbaceous plant with one or a few stems.

LEAVES: The simple leaves are alternate on the stems and have smooth margins. Veins prominent on the undersides.
