Mt. Kenya Forest, Kenya. 2 June 2017. Length is about 5 mm.

Like all flies, Marsh Flies lead a double life first as a worm-like maggot (larva) and then as a fleet-winged insect. This transition is possible because of the transformation process known as metamorphosis. The larval stage of Sepedon prey on snails.
