Taking nectar at flowers of Himalayan Cherry at Kimunye, Kirinyaga, Kenya. 01 June 2017.

Kenya has 33 species of sunbirds many of which can be difficult to identify due to color variations and the fact that the irridescent feathers take on different shades depending on the direction of light relative to the observer. Depending on lighting the Tacazze Sunbird may appear all black, or else have shimmers of purple, magenta and gold. The tail is long and there are two very long central feathers.
