Among rocks on an open hilltop near Turbo, Kenya. Dec 2015. Two stems with closely packed leaves growing among Cyanotis (also visible).

FLOWERS: Often without flowers showing. Distinctly star-shaped flowers with five or four points.

SUCCULENT: A very small succulent with closely packed leaves.

LEAVES: Thick, linear-triangular leaves are opposite on the stem.

RANGE: Widespread in Africa and Asia with a number of named subspecies and varieties.

FRUIT: Dry capsules.
