Brake Fern

Growing at the edge of a clearing in Gatamaiyo Forest, Nakuru County, Kenya near Turbo. Oct. 2016.
This robust fern was found along a road cut through Gatamaiyo Forest. The fronds extend to about a meter in height. The sori, site of reproductive spore formation, are at the leaf margin on the underside of the cleft sinuses.
